REA PC-Scan incorporates a software package and a measuring device (Laser Device). The Laser Device has a built in measuring unit with a solid state red light laser driven by a motor. Measurements are transferred to the PCScan's software application (included at no additional cost) for evaluation. The evaluation is divided into two parts; One part according to ISO/IEC 15416 (CEN or ANSI evaluation) the other part according to Symbology specifications and/or standards, in the case of EAN Codes ISO/IEC 15420 (traditional evaluation) Software Controlled Values and result are presented clearly on your PC's screen in colour.
REA PC-Scan iscreen shows the two evaluation methods at the same time. ISO/IEC 15416 method evaluates in detail the reflectance profile with different aspects. Quality 'level' of your barcode is presented in 5 steps, with the user being is able to preset a quality requirement according to the application or material characteristics. The traditional barcode evaluation display from the REA PCScan gives detailed metric results, bar width and positions as extreme and average values direct on the screen. Detail values for each bar and space can be shown in a separate table. As well as printed codes the REA PC-Scan is able to measure positive and negative Film Masters according to ISO/IEC 15421.

The operation can be protected by user administration or password. For individual complete settings, a profile can be created. This can be called up later by the push of a button for routine verifications. The correct measurement setting can thus be created quickly and safely in just one step. For subsequent data exchange, verification reports can be generated as a PDF file and exported as a text table (CSV). Comment features enable individual user comments within the report. With the REA PC-Scan LD4, you can find out precisely why the read rates are low. The detailed evaluation results allow a lasting optimization of the barcode quality.

Each item number is checked against individual data since there is a separate entry in the database for each product. In a simple case, it is checked, whether a read item number exists within the code.
