Panasonic TOUGHBOOK 40 is a modular Windows notebook with fully ruggedized protection for public service and utilities. It is equipped with a robust magnesium housing with a handle and is dust- and water-resistant according to IP66. It also is impact-resistant from up to 1.8 m according to MIL-STD-810H and operates in a temperature range of -29 °C to +63 °C. Plus, it is protected against shocks and bumps, making it suited for use in vehicles and forklifts.

In addition to self-encrypting quick-release drives which meet military standards, the notebook offers a long battery operating time of up to 36 hours. Further equipment includes an Intel Core i5 vPro or i7 vPro processor, 16 GB RAM (optionally up to 64 GB) and a 512 GB up to maximum 2 TB SSD.
