Why are Omron mobile robots the most advanced Autonomous Intelligent Vehicles?
Omron LD Series Mobile Robots are self-navigating Autonomous Intelligent Vehicles (AIV), designed to transform manufacturing and logistics.
Mapping and Navigation: Robust Navigation With Acuity (Patented)
Acuity provides an additional method of ‘localisation’ to the on-board laser, helping the robot adjust to frequently changing environments.
It identifies overhead lights and overlays the ‘light map’ with the ‘floor map’. It also allows the robots to move easily across wide-open areas in large warehouses. Unlike traditional autonomously guided vehicles (AGVs) or automated guided carts (AGCs), the Omron LD mobile robot requires no facility modifications, such as floor magnets or navigational beacons, saving users up to 15% in deployment costs.
SafetyOmron mobile robots are fully safety compliant*. They use an on-board laser and other sensors to detect obstacles in their path and, based on speed of travel, trigger an E-stop to prevent vehicle collision.
Sensors:
Safety Rated Main Laser
Lower Laser, Rear Laser
Side Lasers (Patented)
Front Bumper, Rear Sonar
* Safety std: ISO 12100, ISO 14121-2, ISO 13849-1, IEC 61010 (battery only), IEC 60950 (battery only), EN 1525, ANSI B56.5 Part 3, JIS D 6802, IEC 60204
Fleet ManagementEnterprise Manager is a network appliance that provides coordination of mobile robots while providing traceability, job allocation and traffic control across the entire fleet. The LD includes Omron’s proprietary software and controls allowing it to intelligently navigate around people and unplanned obstacles that may render traditional AGVs incapacitated.
Transport Request (Job) Allocation: Distributes across multiple mobile robots by selecting the best vehicle to perform the job.
Traffic Control: Optimizes traffic flow of vehicles.
Communications: Single point of contact for integration with factory systems (MES, WMS, ERP, etc.).
MobilePlanner: PC-based software user interface to manage the robot or the fleet.
Automate your working environment with the LD mobile robot. Indeed, the LD autonomous mobile robot interacts with humans to promote a safer and more collaborative work environment. They are designed to meet the latest requirements of industrial sectors.
The mobile robots can be deployed in the following sectors:
Automotive (tire assembly, automotive electronics, automotive accessories, assembly and inspection)
Pharmaceutical (transport of laboratory samples, transport to a sterilization room)
Feeding (transport to storage, transport of goods to assembly and sorting stations)
Digital (semiconductor wafer manufacturing, semiconductor packaging and testing, mobile device manufacturing, data centre environmental monitoring)

OMRON offers a new disinfection solution with UV-equipped Mobile Robots for NHS hospitals, coprations and institutions and companies are turning to automation for Covid-19 disinfecting rooms and public spaces.
Covid-19 requires additional hygiene procedures following the current COVID-19 pandemic has ignited new fields of application for innovative robotics for disinfecting various spaces. In this context, analysts from ABI Research forecast that the mobile robotics market will reach a volume of 23 billion US dollars by 2021. Automation expert OMRON and its partners across the world have joined forces to automate disinfection processes.
Very strict hygiene and safety regulations associated with the pandemic, present hospitals and public institutions with the challenge of finding new approaches and technologies. Mobile robots mounted with ultraviolet (UV) light attachments are ideal for disinfecting hospital rooms, shopping centres and other public spaces. The automation of disinfection with ultraviolet light improves health and safety, thus contributing to the fight against COVID-19. Mobile robots are ideal to be used with the UV lamps, which are not safe for humans to operate.
UV light attachments for OMRON LD mobile robots
UV light can kill bacteria, germs and viruses efficiently – especially on surfaces and in areas of public life that cannot be continuously cleaned with disinfectants. UV is already used widely in applications including drinking water treatment, disinfection of ventilation systems and in food production. In combination with mobile robots, UV light disinfection can be achieved automatically, precisely, quickly and efficiently. In this respect, automation expert OMRON relies on the cooperation with experienced partners across the world such as ControlTec in Poland, FM Vision and Meridionale Impianti in Italy, Mipelsa in Spain, DoF Robotics in Turkey, and Meanwhile SAS in France, who have installed this UV technology on OMRON's LD mobile robots. The units are used in hospitals, supermarkets, hotels, schools, airports as well as restaurants worldwide to effectively eliminate viruses and bacteria.
OMRON LD 60/90 autonomous mobile robots are ideal for disinfecting various areas, as unlike traditional AGVs, they navigate by the natural features of the facility and require no expensive facility modification. Safety lasers and sonar allow the robots to detect obstacles in their path and prevent collisions. Multiple mobile robots can operate within a facility as a fleet thanks to OMRON’s fleet management software.
